Dave T.JPGWhat do you do at CHG, and what do you like about your job? I'm the manager of the anesthesia team at Weatherby Healthcare in Durham, N.C. I love being a part of a high-performing team that takes great pride in what we do every day, while having fun doing it. When did you come to CHG? September 2013 How did you hear about CHG, and what made you want to apply? I originally came across a leadership position with CompHealth, posted on LinkedIn. After doing some research on CHG and reading the bio in Fortune magazine's 100 Best Companies to Work For list, I immediately knew this was a company I wanted to be a part of. Where were you working before you came to CHG? I was with MGA Healthcare Staffing for five years, working in the travel and per diem nurse staffing vertical market. How has working at CHG compared to your other working experience? I've been fortunate enough to work for some great companies throughout my career. While each of those companies had their own unique strengths and limitations, CHG is the total, complete package, far exceeding my expectations in every aspect. Starting with our culture, to our rich benefits plan, our on-site amenities such as a fitness center and health clinic, to an amazing leadership team that deeply cares about the Growth and Continuous Improvement of each and every team member, CHG is the epitome of what a truly great company is, and can be. What can you tell me about your first day? My team welcomed me with open arms from the very beginning. The transition from leaving a company I was with for five years, then moving my family across the country was truly seamless. I felt like I was always a part of this company from day one. I walked out of the office on that first day ecstatic, already looking forward to work the following day. What has been your most memorable experience so far? To be completely candid, my entire time with CHG has been one big memorable experience! This is because of our amazing Putting People First culture, which fosters an unbelievable atmosphere that focuses on delivering superior service to our providers and clients. This also leads to an environment that encourages teamwork and fun, which in turn creates memorable experiences such as Halloween costume contests, United Way Week, Employee Appreciation Week, office parties, holiday potlucks — the list goes on and on and on! How have you seen CHG's core value of Quality and Professionalism in action? I am amazed by the high level of Quality and Professionalism exhibited not only by my team, but every team throughout Weatherby and CHG. Our medical staff services team pulls out miracles every day, by obtaining licenses and credentialing our providers both internally and externally, ensuring that we are placing the highest quality anesthesiologists on assignment. Our travel and housing teams make sure the provider feels comfortable and has the best possible experience while they uproot their life to take care of patients far away from their own families and homes. There are so many moving pieces that need to line up perfectly in order to have our anesthesiologist start on assignment that go completely unnoticed. It's amazing to see this process come together on a daily basis due to everyone's commitment to providing superior service, holding ourselves and our work to the highest possible standards and overall, just being extremely passionate about what we do. Our providers and clients recognize this and it shows in our reputation as the industry leader and benchmark locum tenens staffing. How do you know that your work at CHG matters? Each and every day, our physicians provide care to patients in every situation imaginable, from large health systems in urban areas to underserved remote locations throughout the United States. Our anesthesiologists play a vital role in keeping patients alive and comfortable during surgeries ranging from lifesaving to routine procedures. These patients may not have had the opportunity to undergo that surgery if it were not for the direct care of our provider. Because of passion in what we do, our work directly impacts the lives of thousands of people every year. That's truly impactful for me. Do you have any advice for new or potential CHG employees? Immerse yourself in our culture from day one. Be a sponge, ask questions, be yourself, bring your own unique talents and experiences to help make a difference, and enjoy the ride!
