My CHG Story: Yvonne Louis

Next month marks a one-year anniversary for Yvonne Louis, associate developer on the internal medicine team at CompHealth locum tenens in Salt Lake City, Utah, who has been with CHG since last July.

"I love the environment at CHG the most, along with the medical benefits and the ongoing training and support I receive," Yvonne says. "I love my team a ton; those people know how to work hard and have fun. I really enjoy the feeling of knowing I really am helping others in need, just as I was helped when I was in need."

I was diagnosed with lupus, a long-term autoimmune disorder, in 2007 and since then, I have had to see a rheumatologist on a regular basis.

I was scheduled to see my rheumatologist in April, but a few days before my appointment, the doctor's office called to inform me that they had to reschedule my appointment to the end of August.

My initial reaction on the phone was a loud, "What? There is no way I can wait until then, especially since my lupus usually flares up when summer starts. Where am I supposed to go? I don't have another doctor; I just moved here last year and don't know the health systems well, let alone a good doctor."

I was then told that my doctor had gone on immediate bed rest for her pregnancy and she wasn't due back until the end of August. I immediately started to tell them about locum tenens and they said they would look into it. I called Greg Holmes, client representative on the radiology team at CompHealth locum tenens, and he got on it. When he let me know that the doctor's office was not looking at a locum tenens cover, I called them again and told them I needed a doctor as soon as possible, especially since some of the symptoms from my lupus were getting worse.

I told I had called the doctor's office again and was hopeful that they would accept working with him to find a locum tenens doctor because I needed a doctor soon. A few weeks later, Greg told me that the doctor's office was going to have a rheumatologist start in June. I was so happy we all worked together in getting a doctor in there. My appointment was made in June, which is much better than September! I am feeling better with the fact that I can talk to a doctor now about my concerns. Thanks to CompHealth locum tenens, my health and concerns are not being put off for a later time.
