Marina King, corporate events specialist at CHG Healthcare, was profiled in Careers & the disAbled in the summer/early fall 2020 edition.
As an employee who uses a wheelchair and forearm crutches, Marina uses her personal experiences to make sure all CHG employees can participate in company events.
“I’ve found inadequate flooring or stages and dance floors without ramps. When I’m excluded as a planner, I know how that cascades down to others. It’s my job to make sure we all have access.”
Marina’s passion for making events accessible to everyone impressed CHG’s executive team, who asked her to serve as a liaison for employees with disabilities.
“Now if an employee joins us who has a disability that is physically known, seen, or disclosed, I speak to them as an advocate. If they’re running into challenges, I can help,” she adds.
Her efforts earned her a trip to Kenya as one of CHG’s Difference Makers, where she was able to meet with amputees and hear about their experiences.
