CHG Healthcare ranks No. 19 on PEOPLE magazine’s annual list of “50 Companies that Care.” Rankings represent feedback from more than 4.5 million U.S. employees. The magazine partnered with Great Place to Work, a global people analytics and consulting firm, to analyze employees’ survey feedback on how their workplaces make a difference in their lives and communities as well as the generosity of the organization’s benefits, philanthropic efforts and community support.
CHG’s commitment to Putting People First creates a culture of caring and respect and encourages our people to take care of each other, our customers and the communities we serve.
Here are five ways our people make a difference:
1. Making a Difference Week
Each year, CHG employees participate in a variety of fun activities, including puppy snuggles, live auctions, Hot Wheels races and bingo, to raise money for local charities like the United Way. Last year, CHG raised more than $750,000, which includes a 50 percent match by the Making a Difference Foundation.
2. Volunteer Time Off (VTO)
Each year, employees receive up to 16 hours of paid time off — as well as unlimited team VTO — to volunteer at a nonprofit of their choice. Last year, our people used more than 10,000 hours of VTO to serve in the community.
3. Difference Maker Award

Employees nominate peers who make a significant difference in their communities for the Difference Maker Award. Last year, six Difference Makers and their guests went on a trip to Kenya, where they helped build schools for the community. They also learned about the Kenyan culture, enjoyed a wildlife safari, and saw firsthand the impact this type of service has on the community. And, thanks to the Making a Difference Foundation, we were able to send four physicians to deliver much-needed medical care to the villagers and educate local physicians at the Baraka Hospital.
This year, six new Difference Makers and their guests, along with four nurses, will go on a humanitarian trip to Ecuador.
4. Employee Compassion Fund
The Employee Compassion Fund is an employee-sponsored initiative that provides tax-free grants to employees who find themselves in an unexpected crisis or financial hardship. Employees can sign up for a payroll deduction or make a one-time contribution to the fund and the Making a Difference Foundation matches 50 percent of those contributions. In 2018 alone, the compassion fund distributed 42 grants to CHG employees, totaling more than $70,000.
5. Volunteer Trips

To support our employees’ efforts to give back, we offer them the opportunity to participate in company-subsidized volunteer trips, including trips to Mexico, Ecuador, Poland, Texas, Florida, and the Navajo Nation.
