At first, Lorrie Callaway, assignment coordinator at CompHealth locum tenens in Salt Lake City, Utah, was nervous to start her new job with CHG, but she soon found that with the training and overall culture of caring, she had nothing to worry about.
"I have had a few trying moments and a full task load, but CHG people, including the management and my peers, have proven above and beyond that here, people really do come first," Lorrie says. "The best part about CHG is the actions of the managers, accompanied with their genuine desire for you to succeed and enjoying working here."
Today, nearly three months after her starting date, Lorrie is enjoying her position for the business and diversity it offers, but her favorite part about her job is her team.
"My team is so fun and so supportive, and these are the things that money can't buy," she says. "I am still new, so my main goal is to get to know people and their functions so that I can be as personable and helpful as everyone has been to me."

About two days after I had been put on my team, I found out that the schedule of events had changed and I was going to be in a much tougher spot sooner than I expected. It really threw me for a loop, and I was having a hard time absorbing the circumstances and being hopeful and positive. Cicely Taylor, administrative manager at CompHealth locum tenens, who is not even my manager but who had done a couple of one-on-ones with me, heard I was struggling and came to make sure I was okay. She pulled me aside to talk to and encourage me, letting me know how well I had been doing and explaining to me how and why she could see I would succeed. It was just the support I needed at the moment. My manager was busy and doing her own training, but Cicely saw a fledgling floundering and came to take me under her wing. I also have to say my manager, Leslie Egbert (administrative manager at CompHealth locum tenens), is awesome! The workload on my team got split a couple of weeks after I came on to the team. It was an even split between myself and the other account coordinator who has been here about four years. Leslie has been incredible in helping me watch my workload and keep things on schedule as much as possible. She has been my faith when I feel overwhelmed and like I am losing the battle. To have that clear and honest perspective when you are being buffeted by strong winds is invaluable.
I have lived and worked in this valley for a little more than 20 years, and never once have I experienced or heard of another company that trains like CHG. As I spent a month in training and heard about the culture here, I kept waiting to see if this was real to the core, or purely the topical application or lip service that other companies have served up as "the real thing." The time, effort and dollars spent on training are well worth it, and I loved feeling like I really knew the company I work for, right from the start. Now after being on team for a month, "drinking from the fire hose" (and it has NOT been easy), my doubting Thomas has been put to rest.
