One year and four months ago, James Crayk, recruiter at CompHealth permanent placement in Salt Lake City, Utah, may not have had a ton of sales experience, but that didn't stop him from thriving and loving his job placing providers.
"What I like most about my job is being able to work with such a great team and wonderful physicians," James says. "There is a great chemistry between our team and we are all willing to help each other succeed. The physicians that I work with are orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, physical, medicine and rehabilitation physicians, urologists and otolaryngologists. Each one of these specialties has amazing physicians working in it and it's a pleasure to help them find a good fit."
It may be a common answer, but James says that his favorite thing about CHG is the people.
"I know that everyone says the people," he says, "It's because it's true!"
When James read about CHG in Utah Business magazine, he knew he would love working here. One application, two interviews, and one endorsement from a future co-worker later, James had his dream job! Read all about it in his story below!
I went to apply online and then thought to myself, "I don't even know what job to apply for. What do I do?" I ended up not applying right then. A couple of weeks later, as stress from work had increased, I talked to my brother about my frustrations, and he told me that there was a company that had just hired one of his friends. When I asked him what the company's name was, he told me it was CHG. "No way!" I said. "I was just reading about that place in Utah Business magazine." He advised me to contact his friend who had just started working there, so I did and I was able to get an interview. I was nervous when I came in for the interview because I really wanted a chance to work for this great place. In my first interview, I met with four different people and I thought to myself, "I have never seen a place invest so much time in considering their possible hires!" One of the people that I met with said that he didn't feel like I had enough sales experience on my resume and he didn't know if I would qualify. I was obviously disappointed to hear that because I really wanted a chance to prove that I could do the job. I waited for two weeks, which felt like two months, to hear back from the company, and eventually they contacted me for a second visit. I knew I had to make them believe that I could do this job. After meeting with two people from one of the teams and shadowing a few other people, the manager of that team offered me the position. I learned that I had received the offer because after meeting with me, one of the team members told the manager that he felt like he should hire me right there on the spot. I was extremely happy and shocked. I just want to say how grateful I am for the people that helped me through the interviewing stage and to the manager who took the risk on the guy with "not enough sales experience." I will be forever grateful to him for taking that chance and believing in me. Since I have been hired I have met amazing people and work with the best team in the company. I also want to thank my wife and two boys for their support! They and I appreciate CHG, and I look forward to a career here!
My story begins, like most others, with my previous company. I was working long hours in a stressful environment and really not seeing my family. One night, I saw a Utah Business magazine with the title "Best Companies to Work For in Utah" in my company's lobby. I opened it up and started reading about the companies that were mentioned and I came across CHG. As I was reading about the company, I thought, "Wow, I wish I could work there."
