Getting better every day is a part of our culture and our core value of Continuous Improvement. And Lesley Alleyne-George, through her commitment to further her education, is a shining example of this core value.
Lesley, who's an assignment coordinator at our Weatherby Healthcare division, joined the company seven years ago. At that time, she was still working on her undergraduate degree and was able to complete it with the help of CHG's tuition reimbursement program.
Then, true to CHG's core value of Continuous Improvement, Lesley decided to challenge herself and took advantage of this program again later in her career — this time earning her an MBA.
"I come from a family of overachievers," Lesley says. "And I wanted to broaden my education so I could grow more within the CHG world."
When she started her journey towards her MBA, Lesley was also trying to grow her family. She ended up having to put her scholarly pursuit on hold during pregnancy with her son, Micah.
"It was a very tough pregnancy," she recalls. "I was on bedrest most of the time."
Lesley's plan was always to go back to finish the degree she started. Raising a family with a full-time job while studying for a master's degree can be a tough routine to balance. But she was able to do it for three years.
"I finally feel relieved. It was a long journey," Lesley says. "But I did it because I wanted my son to see my achievement and to know that he can reach his goals, too, someday."
A few of her colleagues have approached Lesley asking her for advice about whether or not they should go back to school. With a seamless process and unique features such as advancement for tuition fees, her answer to her colleagues is a no-brainer.
"There aren't many places that have this type of benefit," Lesley says. "Take advantage of it."
