Name: Robert Jones
Position: Training manager at Weatherby Healthcare in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Years at CHG: 3
What is your most memorable experience at CHG?
I was really impressed with CHG from the first time I stepped into the corporate offices for new hire training. You could see the core values in action through everyone's actions and kindness, and I continue to see it every day as part of the CHG culture.
What is your career background and what brought you to CHG?
I spent 20+ years in the military holding several positions. My last position was as a command sergeant major with Southern Command. One of the units that I was responsible for was the South Florida and Caribbean Recruiting Offices. While I was still in the military, one of my friends, Monica Schindeler, a CHG employee, kept talking about how great CHG was and how it would be a great opportunity for me. I am here with CHG because of Monica's enthusiasm about her job and CHG, and I'm thankful to her for that!
What is your favorite part about your job?
Helping others grow and reach their goals!
What do you like to do when you aren't at work?
I really enjoy coaching youth sports and spending time with my family. For several years, I've been coaching various sports. It's humbling to know the impact you can have as a coach, both in the sport you're coaching as well as in their everyday lives, and nothing can replace the quality time and experiences shared with family.
What have you learned about yourself working at CHG?
I've learned that I continue to learn something new every day. "If I can see further than others, it's because I've stood on the shoulders of giants," Sir Isaac Newton said.
How have you grown as a leader at CHG?
I've grown so much as a leader by seeing CHG's core value of Putting People First in action. This people-centric value and how it is used in everyday decisions to impact the growth and the engagement of CHG's people has helped me grow both personally and professionally.
Who has influenced you most in your career at CHG and how?
Pat Kennedy, hands down! She's a personable and professional leader worthy of emulation. Her vision about the company and her ability to align that vision with the company's core values, inspire the growth of the people within the company to influence the company's growth -- all while protecting Weatherby's culture -- is truly amazing! While serving in the military, I have worked as an organizational developer with several Fortune 100 companies, and I have seen very few leaders that were able to protect the culture of their organization, align their corporate values and continue to show growth year over year with integrity! Pat does that and more! She is truly inspiring and an example for every leader to emulate.
