Name: Cindy Slagle
Position: Director of business development at Weatherby Healthcare in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Years at CHG: 7
What is your most memorable experience at CHG? I loved finding out that we were awarded a major contract with a facility! I remember how nervous I was giving the presentation to their board after we had submitted our proposal and leaving there feeling confident that we would be awarded, but still having to wait to hear. When we finally did hear, it was the culmination of nearly a year's worth of work coming to fruition — and it felt amazing!
What does CHG's core value of Continuous Improvement mean to you, and how have you seen it in action? Continuous Improvement, in my opinion, is always looking for ways to perform better than we have in the past. I see it every day in my position, particularly as we work collaboratively with our clients and leaders to form more strategic partnerships that help us differentiate ourselves in the market.
What is your career background and what brought you to CHG? My background was in consumer sales, marketing and leadership. I was very attracted to the culture of CHG and the healthcare industry. I absolutely loved the leadership team that I met and what I learned about the company during my interviews here.
What is your favorite part about your job? The relationships that I've built both internally at CHG and externally. My team is so dynamic and talented; they impress me every single day. I'm very fortunate to be a part of such an amazing group of people! I love the thrill of the chase and the feeling of knowing that we outworked our competition to close a deal. Sales leadership is something that I'm very passionate about, so the fact that I get to work so closely in this role with Weatherby's amazing leadership team makes it even better.
What do you like to do when you aren't at work? I enjoy hanging out with my family, traveling, shopping and relaxing by the pool with friends or a good book.
What have you learned about yourself working at CHG? I've learned that I can make mistakes and rebound. As long as I bring the right attitude and effort to the job every single day, I'll move in the direction of my goals.
How have you grown as a leader at CHG? I've learned to be more disciplined when it comes to focusing on strategy and planning, in order to stay in line with the team's overall goals and objectives. In the past, I've gone through periods where I was running so fast to close deals that I didn't carve out enough time to be strategic in my approach. I've learned how important that is and how to incorporate an element of it into my daily activity.
Who has influenced you most in your career at CHG and how? Tough question! There have been so many amazing influences in my career here. I would have to say that throughout my career here, Pat Kennedy has been a consistent significant influence that has helped guide me on my path, direct me through challenges and push me to new achievements. She is an amazing mentor who brings a wealth of experience to her team, coupled with a very people-oriented and down-to-earth approach.
How do you know that what you do at CHG matters? We hear it directly from our clients daily. Since we are client-facing team, we are fortunate to hear remarkable stories from our clients on how we have impacted their organizations.
