What do you do at CHG, and what do you like about your job? I am an MSS coordinator supporting the psychiatry team, for CompHealth locum tenens in Salt Lake City, Utah. I honestly like everything about my job. I would say that my favorite part would have to be the incredible people that I work with every day. They have impacted my life in a huge way, both personally and professionally.
When did you come to CHG? I started in June 2013.
How did you hear about CHG, and what made you want to apply? I was an employee referral. My good friend kept telling me all about the company, the big picture of what CHG does, the benefits, the culture and how amazing all of the people are. It took me awhile to finally decide to apply, because I was living in Ogden at the time, which is about 40 miles from the office. I came to get her for lunch one day to check out the company. After coming here and meeting everyone that worked with her and seeing how friendly they all were, I finally said, "Sign me up!" I applied, got hired and moved all within the next couple of weeks. I feel very fortunate to be a part of the one percent that was hired this year.
Where were you working before you came to CHG? I worked in the operating room of McKay Dee Hospital.
How has working at CHG compared to your other working experience? The other places I have worked don't even compare. Every day I find myself saying, "Is this real life?" I still can't believe that I work for such a great company that truly puts people first. It has been a life-changing experience.
What can you tell me about your first day? Coming in for my first day was exciting and overwhelming. I didn't really know what to expect out of a week-long orientation, but it ended up being so much fun. The operational training class that I was in was one of the largest that we have ever had. It was so fun meeting so many people, not just from Salt Lake, but from all of our other locations as well. We all bonded quickly and some of my closest friends came from that class.
What has been your most memorable experience so far? When I was invited to have lunch with the executive leaders of our company. They served us Olive Garden, answered questions that we had and then we played Just Dance. It was incredible to me that they took time out of their busy schedules to receive our feedback and make it known that they cared, of course while having some fun.
How have you seen CHG's core value of Continuous Improvement in action? I have seen Continuous Improvement in action by always having the opportunity to learn new things and improve in my role. By working on my personal development with my leader and asking for more learning opportunities, I was able to get promoted.
How do you know that your work at CHG matters? I am told often by my leaders. This company is amazing at recognition and giving credit where credit is due.
Do you have any advice for new or potential CHG employees? Take the opportunity to go after what you want and ask for help to get there. Build a relationship with your leader and make it known what your goals are, they will help you in any way that they can. Remember that everyone goes through a learning curve at first — reach out for help and maintain a positive attitude. Also, be yourself and have fun. Take time out of your day to participate in the fun activities that are always offered!
