Name: Pamela Nielsen
Job Title: Accounts payable team manager at CHG in Salt Lake City, Utah
Years with CHG: 25
What is your favorite part about working at CHG? The people! I feel like the people here at CHG are my extended family.
What is your most memorable experience at CHG? I thought it was fun when I first started having Happy Hours every Friday. Then, of course, all the fun Halloween parties. Then there is United Way Week and Employee Appreciation Week. I guess if I have to narrow it down, it would be when I got to go to President's Club for my 20th anniversary. I had so much fun, and I'm looking forward to this upcoming one in March.
If someone asked you what you do, how would you answer them? I work for the largest medical staffing company in the nation and Fortune's no. 27 best company to work for.
Why did you choose to work at CHG? I moved to Salt Lake in April 1985 after coming home from a church mission in January. I was working for Office Management of Utah and had just moved in with Janice Plain [senior software engineer]. Janice came home one night from work and told me about a position at CompHealth, and the rest is history.
What is your favorite core value at CHG? Putting People First. This company truly stands by this. Mike [CHG's CEO] and Sean [CHG's CFO] are a great example of Putting People First. It has truly meant a lot to me to have both of them come by my desk or stop me in the hall to see how I'm doing and how my cancer treatments were going. To have the support from HR, benefits, my department and team was also a great example of this value. To have this support and not have to worry about your job takes so much stress and worry off your back. My family would ask me how things were with work and if I had any worries. When I told them how great and supportive CHG was, they were very impressed and would always tell me how lucky I was to work for such an amazing company.
What do you like to do when you aren't at work? I like to hang out with my friends/family and go to movies, especially anything with Orlando Bloom. I love The Three Musketeers, Lord of The Rings trilogy, Harry Potter, a good, clean romance, fun action movies and the Twilight movies. I also love reading mysteries, sci-fi and fantasy, as well as doing a lot of craft projects, including knitting, crocheting, toll painting, interior design and photography.
What is your hidden talent? I really don't like to tell people this, but I guess I'll let it slip that I play the piano and flute (for my own enjoyment).
If you could choose your last meal, what would it be? My mother's spaghetti.
What five things would you take to a deserted island? My family and friends, an endless supply of books, and food and water. And, if I could take anything, I would have to say Orlando Bloom, of course!
In a movie about your life, who would you choose to star as you? Julia Roberts, because she smiles a lot and is emotional like me.
