Brooke McCormick, recruiter at RN Network, isn't afraid to get her hands -- or anything else -- dirty.
Brooke completed the Spartan Race, an eight-mile obstacle race that includes mud runs, sprints, climbing cargo nets and other challenges, at Oleta River State Park in Miami, Fla., on April 23.
"Completing the Spartan Race was an unbelievable feeling of accomplishment! The race was tough physically and mentally. Knowing that I completed a new adventure made me want to do it again," Brooke shares.
When friends Ryan, Lorenna and Robert first told Brooke about the race, she was skeptical, but decided to join them for the Spartan. Since it was her first race, she was also nervous that she wouldn't be able to finish it.
"They had us run and swim through water, crawl in the mud under barbed wire, jump walls, climb rope pyramids, run through what felt like a neverending forest and walk walls and bridges," Brooke recalls. "It ended up becoming more of a mental challenge than a physical one for me. Finishing the Spartan Race reminded me I can do anything when I set my mind to it."
