Our people are our greatest resource, so making sure they have the right tools and skills to succeed is important to us. We have a dedicated, awarding-winning learning and development team here at CHG, which has made it on Training magazine's "Training Top 125" list eight consecutive years — most recently ranking in at No. 3.
Here's a look at the top five training programs we offer at CHG:
New-hire training
No matter the division, every new CHG employee spends a week at our headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, for a four-day, immersive training. New hires are introduced to our culture and core values. Topics covered include: building relationships, active listening, communication skills, CHG's business model, company structure and how we as individuals can make a difference in our communities.
Sales training
Both new and tenured sales people are guaranteed to learn something during our sales-focused training program. The curriculum combines concepts of our culture and their practical application through hands-on coaching and development. We ensure our teams are continuously improving and having meaningful impact on the business.
Employee development
Our people are encouraged to sign up for 90-minute, professional development courses offered throughout the year. Classes range from technical skills to personal development. Examples of courses include "Strengthening Interpersonal Relationships," "Self-Leadership," "Basics of Excel" and "Emotional Intelligence."
Pre-leadership program
We like to promote from within and we actively identify, evaluate and develop potential leaders with hands-on experiences and coaching. Participants in our three-month, pre-leadership program focus on topics such as effective communication, recognition, presentation skills and our core value of Putting People First.
Leadership development
Our year-long development program for new leaders at CHG is centered on techniques, concepts and ideas relating to our belief in people-centered leadership. Topics presented include the CHG coaching model, the book "Crucial Conversations" by VitalSmarts, negotiation, growth and hiring, Integrity and Ethics, Continuous Improvement and "Situational Leadership" by the Ken Blanchard Company.
