On October 13, Cody West, associate manager of the accounts receivable team at CHG in Salt Lake City, Utah, celebrates his third anniversary with CHG. And after three years here, he has yet to go home and complain about a single day at work.
"It simply hasn't happened," he says. "I am treated well, day in and day out. Since coming to CHG, I honestly feel that for the first time, I can be the same person at work that I am at home."
Although he started in collections, Cody moved over to billing this past February. Cody is currently involved in a major project transferring all requests and forms to an electronic version, making processing more efficient and saving time for everyone responsible for filling them out or processing them. Cody appreciates the chance he has to make life easier for his co-workers, especially when he is surrounded by such selfless people.
"The best thing about CHG is, by far, the people," he says. "It always amazes me how everybody goes out of their way to help someone else out. I have never in my life been a part of such an unselfish company."
While most employees commemorate their three-year mark with a computer messenger bag, fleece top, wristlet or front-pocket wallet, perhaps a deep-fried Twinkie dipped in melted chocolate might be the more appropriate gift to celebrate Cody's time at CHG.
Find out why in his CHG story below!
It started in 2010 with a deep fryer and Twinkies. Year 2011 continued the tradition with fried ice cream, and in 2012, we brought in a crockpot full of melted chocolate in which we dipped pretty much everything. I love that CHG not only allows us to do such activities, but actually encourages it.
If there is a legacy that I have helped build here at CHG, it has to be National Junk Food Day. This is a day that I take great pride in and help the entire fifth floor of the Salt Lake City office celebrate each year. Each year in July, Miguel Martinez, senior customer relations specialist on the accounts receivable team, and I make sure our friends in the financial management, marketing and other departments are well taken care of.
The people of CHG have accepted me for who I am and trust me with leadership capabilities and a team that I care so much for. Working at CHG has made me a better person all the way around: A better husband, father and peer. Thank you, CHG, and everybody here, for giving me such a wonderful opportunity to come to a place that never feels like work and to leave each day knowing I helped make a difference.
